ChemOffice/ChemDraw Site License Reactivation

The Chemistry Computing Facility has an renewed our Site License for CambridgeSoft's ChemOffice Professional 15 for Windows and ChemDraw Professional 15 for Mac for another year. This extends licensed software until November 2016.  Any licenses obtained before September 2015 are now expired and will need to be reactivated.

If you are using a version earlier than 15, strongly suggested that you upgrade to version 15. You may still continue to use an earlier version, but you will need to reactivate your software. Follow the instructions below. You should follow the appropriate set of instructions below depending on which platform you are running it on.

Please note that ChemDraw Professional 15 for Mac will only run on Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks or Higher.  Apple offers free OS upgrades through their App Store. Penn Chemistry Computing may be able to loan you an upgrade USB drive if needed.  If you can't upgrade your OS, you can continue using an earlier version of ChemDraw.  Follow the instructions for Earlier Versions of ChemDraw below.

Reactivate ChemOffice Professional 15 for Windows

If you are running ChemOffice Professional 15, you don't need to reinstall the software, you just have to reactivate it with your original serial number for the Windows version. Follow the instructions below to reacivate your sofware.

  1. Ensure that you have an active Internet connection.

  2. Go to Cambridgesoft’s site: http://www.cambridgesoft.com/

  3. If you do not have a Cambridgesoft account set up yet, create an account using your SAS email as the account name.

  4. Click on the Login button and log into your Cambridgesoft account. Account name is usually your SAS email account address.

  5. Click on the “My Downloads” link under the Services heading on the right. Your serial numbers for both Windows and Mac should appear in the list. Look for the most recent listing for version 15 for Windows (expiring 11/14/2016) and use these codes for reactivation.

  6. Launch the ChemBioDraw software. You may receive a notification window which reads "Your activation code for ChemBioDraw Ultra Has Expired."

  7. Click on OK to clear this window and the software should launch normally.

  8. On the menu bar, click on Help, then Activate ChemBioDraw Ultra... and the registration window will open.

  9. Ensure that your Name, Email Address and Serial Number are filled in.

  10. Click on Activate over Internet button. A firewall warning notification window will open. Click on OK to continue.

  11. A window should open confirming that your software activation is complete. Click on OK to clear this window

  12. Your software is now activated until November 2016.

Reactivate ChemDraw Professional 15 for Mac

If you are running ChemDraw Professional, you don't need to reinstall the software, you just have to reactivate it with a new serial number and activation code for the Mac version. Follow the instructions below to reacivate your sofware.

  1. Ensure that you have an active Internet connection.

  2. Go to Penn Chemistry’s Site License page at Cambridgesoft http://sitelicense.cambridgesoft.com/sitelicense.cfm?sid=854

  3. Enter your SAS email address (username@sas.upenn.edu) and click on the Submit button.

  4. You will be led to the Software Download Page. You don't need to download or reinstall the software. Close this page.

  5. You should be emailed a new serial number and registration code. Proceed to step 11. If not, continue with these instructions.

  6. If you do not receive an email with your installation information, go to Cambridgesoft’s site: http://www.cambridgesoft.com/

  7. If you do not have a Cambridgesoft account set up yet, create an account using your SAS email as the account name.

  8. Click on the Login button and log into your Cambridgesoft account.  Account name is usually your SAS email account address.

  9. Click on the “My Downloads” link under the Services heading on the right.

  10. Your serial numbers for both Windows and Mac should appear in the list.  Look for the most recent listing (expiring November 2012) for version 12 for Mac and use these codes for reactivation.

  11. Launch the ChemBioDraw software.

  12. You may receive a notification window which reads "Your registration code for ChemBioDraw has expired..." If so, click on Enter New Registration. If not, click on ChemBioDraw Ultra in the menu bar then select Activate ChemBioDraw Ultra... from the menu.

  13. Enter your Name, Serial Number and Registration Code for your license and click the Begin button.

  14. Your software is now activated until November 2016.


Reactivate Earlier Versions of ChemDraw

Windows

If you still wish to use the older version for Windows, you can follow the instructions above and use the serial number for the earlier version you are currently running.

Mac

If you want to keep using an older version for Mac, send an email from your institutional email address to customer_service@cambridgesoft.com with the following information included:

You'll receive an email back with a new registration code (you re-use the same serial number). Enter that registration code on the popup message that indicates your site license is expiring.
